Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Medical Context:
MRI uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to generate highly detailed images of soft tissues. It is non-invasive and radiation-free, making it the gold standard for brain, spine, joint, and internal organ analysis.
Computed Tomography (CT) Scan
Medical Context:
A CT scan uses specialized X-rays to create cross-sectional “slices” of the body. It excels at imaging bone, lung tissue, and blood vessels, and is critical in trauma, oncology (cancer), and vascular disease diagnosis.
Ultrasound (Sonography)
Medical Context:

Digital X-Ray & OPG
Medical Context:
Digital X-ray provides fast, clear images of bones and chest structures using a minimal dose of radiation. OPG (Orthopantomogram) is a panoramic dental X-ray, capturing the entire jaw and all teeth in a single image.

Your Guide to a Smooth Visit

Prerequisites & Checklist
- Doctor’s Prescription: A valid prescription is mandatory for all radiology and specialized tests.
- Photo ID: Please bring a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport).
- Previous Reports: Bring any relevant old medical reports, scans, or films for comparison.
- Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose, metal-free clothing. You may be asked to change into a gown.
- Inform Staff: Please inform us if you are pregnant, have any allergies, or have any metal implants (like pacemakers, cochlear implants, or surgical clips).
Fasting Guidelines
- Fasting Blood Tests: 8-12 hours of overnight fasting (e.g., Lipid Profile, Fasting Sugar).
- Abdominal Ultrasound: 4-6 hours of fasting to reduce gas. You may be asked to drink water and hold urine for a full bladder.
- CT/MRI with Contrast: 4-6 hours of fasting is required. Our team will provide specific instructions.
- Water Intake: Plain water is usually allowed and encouraged, unless specified otherwise.
- Medication: Take your regular medications (e.g., for BP, thyroid) with a sip of water unless your doctor has advised against it.
Step-by-Step Guide (Simple Terms)
- Registration: Our front desk will verify your prescription and details.
- Preparation: You may be asked to change into a gown. For CT/MRI, a technician will explain the process and (if needed) place a small IV line for contrast.
- The Test: You’ll be positioned on the scanner table. The machine can be loud (for MRI), but it’s completely painless. Just relax and lie still.
- Completion: Once the images are checked, you’re all done! You can change and leave. We’ll inform you about your reports.
Procedure Guide (Medical Terms – MRI)
- Patient Screening: Rigorous screening for metallic contraindications. Consent for contrast (if applicable) is obtained.
- Positioning: Patient is positioned on the scanner table, and the appropriate RF (radiofrequency) coil is placed over the area of interest (e.g., head coil, knee coil).
- Image Acquisition: Patient is moved to the magnet’s isocenter. Multiple pulse sequences (e.g., T1-weighted, T2-weighted, FLAIR, DWI) are run to acquire images in axial, sagittal, and coronal planes.
- Contrast Administration: (If required) A gadolinium-based contrast agent is injected, and post-contrast T1-weighted sequences are acquired to assess vascularity.
